Cardiff design agency Peter Gill & Associates has delivered web-based interactive learning materials and a web marketing campaign for ICAT, the International Centre for Aircraft Training. ICAT, part of Barry College and based at Cardiff Airport, is an accredited examination centre, offering full and part-time distance learning courses in aerospace maintenance, attracting students from around the globe. Peter Gill & Associates was brought in as stringent new European standards governing aerospace maintenance are being phased in to enhance safety.

Peter Gill, managing director at Peter Gill & Associates, said: "In accordance with current legislation, all technicians will now need to re-qualify in line with the new standards by 2012. "We supported ICAT with the development of its important e-learning facility, allowing international students ease of access to detailed online modules as they study for Part-66 – the new aircraft maintenance engineers' licensing system. We have also established a Learning Management System (LMS) allowing students to access online tutorial support." In association with the University of Glamorgan,

ICAT offers students the opportunity to study for a full-time BSc (Hons) in aircraft maintenance engineering as well as the option of pursuing the degree course part time via distance learning. Brian Sinkins ICAT course director, said: "Our sophisticated online course materials enable aerospace engineers to keep ahead of changing legislation and improve their competitive edge with customised training programmes to enhance skills and ability. "Our courses also help students develop new partnerships for research and innovation through academic/industrial collaboration."
